THE PROBLEM

Students and other people who work part-time jobs generally seem to have almost no source from which they can earn some additional income. Same goes for those
who are currently working a full time job, but who, apart from committing to their job, have very few opportunities to earn while doing what they love.

Microtasks are an amazing way to make use of any free time that you may have in order to be productive and earn a few extra bucks.

Our team of 7 decided to take this problem and find the solution to this. Here is what we came up with: Taskers aims to provide a platform where people can work on microtasks that are posted by companies or individuals in need of certain easy-to-do services. Upon completing these microtasks, they can earn money. Taskers helps people utilize their skills to indulge in whatever they love doing while simultaneously benefitting from it!!

MY ROLE

I was mainly incharge of gathering user research data and wireframing

MAKE OF THE TEAM

The team consisted of 7 members and each of us was allotted work in teams.

KEY GOAL

to enable people to microtask easily and earn quick money

OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

As a team, we pooled in our Ideas as well as research findings. These had to be unified for Analysis and crucial decisions had to be made. We started by defining the goals to be accomplished by the app:

  • To design a platform where people can use microtasks to earn extra money with minimal commitment and time consumption.

  • Help users find microtasks that are best suited for them based on their likes and preferences.

  • To allow users to be able to do all this at their convenience.

We then set out to conduct user interviews in order to gather data that would help us make informed decisions regarding the information that goes on the application. This was done by consulting a questionnaire. Some of the questions included:

1. Would you be interested in earning money during your free time?

2. What would your preferred method of payment be, say, money or through vouchers?

3. How long would you ideally spend on a microtask?

Affinity Maps

We compiled the data collected from users in the form of an affinity map to help find common responses or pain points or even goals among the people we interviewed. These were placed under named groups to help with differentiating the categories

USER PERSONAS AND THE TASK FLOW

With the help of the Affinity Maps, we came up with the following user personas:

After confirming our Personas, we established a concise task flow that would finally help us define the Information Architecture and Content that would go into the wireframes.

Wireframes and woreflows

We each came up with our versions of the wireframes and finally agreed on what components would go into each screen and as a result, these wireframes were finalized.

THESE WERE SOME MAJOR LEARNINGS OR POINTS WE INCLUDED IN THE DESIGNS

  • Taskers provides a personalized list of tasks for each user based on the preference and skills that they are requested to enter - either during sign-up or at a later time. This provides a customized, tailored experience.

  • Taskers provide a feature called Tasker Credits: these are points that are added when the user completes a certain task. It also relates to the user's level which is an indicator of the number of tasks completed. The higher level your level is, the better the rewards you will receive!

  • Rewards will be in the form of discount coupons and other such presents that the user may find useful.

  • This was our attempt at providing more incentives for people to get on microtasking.
